MOMENTUM
Join pianist and composer Liz Derstine and GAIA Quartet for MOMENTUM, a concert that reflects the rhythm of any major feat—whether it’s a marathon, a climb, a performance, or a personal breakthrough. Taking place at the Chapel at Arlington Street Church on Saturday, April 19th at 3:00 PM, this program mirrors the journey: the many months of preparation, the meditation of the night before, the adrenaline of the morning, the intensity of the moment itself, and the celebration that follows. Featuring the U.S. premiere of IN TIME by Hsiu-Ping Patrick Wu, a new work by Liz Derstine, a reimagining of Hildegard von Bingen with loop pedal, and Dvořák’s soaring Piano Quintet No. 2, Momentum blends old and new in a program full of drive, beauty, and bold ideas.

In Time
Don't miss a sneak peak of our debut album:
In Time is GAIA Quartet’s debut album, featuring works exclusively by living composers, many of whom they commissioned. The album explores different experiences of time—how we feel it, how we lose it, and how we hold onto it. From the urgency of constant motion to the quiet reflection of memory, each piece offers a unique perspective on how time shapes our lives. Committed to making contemporary music more engaging, GAIA pairs the album with personal reflections and listener prompts, inviting audiences to connect with the music in their own way. In Time will be available on all major streaming platforms.
